Speed Test — FAQ
What does this test measure?
Download and upload throughput, plus ping (latency) and jitter (latency variation). These indicate how fast and how stable your connection is for streaming, gaming, and calls.
How accurate is it?
It uses M-Lab ndt7. We stream live samples and average after each phase. Accuracy depends on Wi-Fi, distance to router, background traffic, and CPU. For best results, use Ethernet and pause heavy apps.
How long does it take?
About 8 seconds for download and 8 seconds for upload. The progress bar and graphs update live while the test runs.
Can I choose server/country?
Yes. Use the selector to target a country or a specific site; otherwise the nearest healthy site is chosen automatically.
Do you store my test data?
The measurement runs between your browser and M-Lab. We don’t store personally identifying content; see our Privacy page for details.
